Farad (F)

The farad (F) is the SI unit of capacitance, named after the English physicist Michael Faraday. It measures a device's ability to store electric charge. One farad is defined as the capacitance of a capacitor in which a charge of one coulomb produces a potential difference of one volt. In practical terms, capacitors are often measured in microfarads (μF), nanofarads (nF), or picofarads (pF) due to the farad's large size. Capacitors with higher farad values can store more charge, making them essential in electronic circuits for energy storage, filtering, and signal processing.
