Lead-acid battery

A lead-acid battery is a rechargeable battery that generates electricity using lead and sulfuric acid.

It consists of plates of lead and lead(IV) oxide immersed in a sulfuric acid solution, and it is widely used in various applications such as vehicles, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, and industrial backup power sources.

Lead-acid batteries offer a combination of affordability, high starting power, and discharge rate, and they are capable of rapid charging.

Additionally, lead-acid batteries are relatively easy to maintain and are considered relatively environmentally friendly.

However, they are heavy, have a relatively low energy density, and are not well-suited for long-term use.
