At the same time, we announced the launch of his ULTIMO® small flat canned cell, which is less than half the volume of our conventional flattened canned products. increase. The new mass production plant will manufacture flat square can-shaped cells including this small cell type on an industrial scale.
In November 2008, we started the world's first mass production facility for large-capacity LIC, and as the ULTIMO® series, we have a lightweight and thin laminate cell type (production capacity of 300,000 cells / year) and a flat square can type cell type with excellent robustness. (Production capacity 120,000 cells / year) We also provide module solutions for connecting cells and using them at high voltage globally. Of these, the flat square can type is being adopted in a wide range of fields from low-voltage / stationary industrial machines to high-voltage / mobile applications, and the demand is expected to grow rapidly. With the aim of securing a market advantage in terms of cost, we have decided to build a mass production factory with 3 million cells per year.
In addition, the newly launched small flat square can type cell will meet the vigorous market needs in applications where miniaturization of the entire system is prioritized due to the limited installation space for power supplies such as construction machinery, industrial machinery, and automobiles. It is a product. It has the high robustness and vibration resistance of a flat square can type cell, and its miniaturization enhances the flexibility when it is installed in a device. As with the conventional type, the small type is expected to have a large demand, so the mass production factory for the newly constructed square can type cell has specifications that allow both the conventional type and the small type to be produced together.

In particular, the ULTIMO® series is an ultra-low resistance type that has overwhelmingly small energy loss during charging and discharging compared to secondary batteries, has high reliability, safety, and long-term durability, and is an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC). The number of applications is increasing for applications such as rapid charge / discharge, energy regeneration, peak assist, and power leveling, and various industries such as renewable energy-related equipment such as wind power generation and solar power generation, instantaneous voltage drop compensation equipment, and construction machinery. In addition, we plan to install an instantaneous voltage drop compensation device using ULTIMO®, an automated guided vehicle (AGV) in the factory, and an outdoor light that takes in natural energy with ULTIMO® at the new mass production factory.
