It has been decided that our lithium-ion capacitor "ULTIMO®" will be used as a storage power source for the energy regeneration system (Wayside ESS) of orbital traffic on the Qingdao Subway Line 8 in China.

Wayside ESS is a new wind photoelectron technology * 1 and Shanghai Capenergy Technology * 2 that regenerates and charges a large amount of kinetic energy during deceleration of the subway with high efficiency and suppresses power consumption by assisting the charged energy at the time of departure. It will be a new system jointly developed by our company.

The system will start demonstration tests on China's Qingdao Subway Line 2 at the end of 2019, and will start commercial operation on Line 8 at the end of 20.

Wayside ESS technology is under consideration for introduction in major cities in China, and is expected to be expanded globally.
